Semi-Automatic Assembler for Precision Mechanisms - Zero (MK0, Eco)

A cheaper, simplified take on MK1. It works on the same principle, but with a different input/output layout and a lower build cost. Without the Mechanical Arm, byproducts are collected in a chest for you to clean up instead of being looped back automatically.

--Highlights:

  • Eco build: drops the Mechanical Arm, Item Vaults, Smart Chutes, and Threshold Switch used in MK1, and uses Hoppers, Barrels, and Chests instead.

  • Compact: fits in a 4x4x4 box.

  • Built-in recycler: recyclable byproducts from failed assemblies are returned to the assembly line.

  • Simple input: just Gold (Ingots, Nuggets, Sheets) and Planks (any type).

  • Manual cleanup: apart from Iron Ingots, everything else ends up in the Chest. Sweep it periodically.

  • Lower power draw: 10,240 SU at 256 RPM.

--Overview:

The sequenced assembly of precision mechanisms is only successful about 80% of the time. As a result, most auto-assembly lines produce a continuous stream of half-finished byproducts that end up in a junk chest. Like MK1, this build captures recyclable byproducts and returns them directly to the assembly line. Zero trades some convenience for a much lower build cost.

--Main Process:

  1. Gold is input into the system (Ingots, Nuggets, or Sheets). One stack of gold should be used per use.

  2. A Gold Ingot is pressed into a Golden Sheet by a Mechanical Press.

  3. The item continues through the rest of the sequenced assembly, where Deployers stocked with Cogwheels, Large Cogwheels, and Iron Nuggets handle the remaining steps.

  4. The finished Precision Mechanism and all byproducts end up in the Chest.

--Byproduct Recycling Loops:

The recycling steps are the same as MK1, but without a Mechanical Arm, the results are not routed back into the machine automatically. Everything except Iron Ingots stops in the Chest, where you collect it and re-insert it yourself.

  • Raw Gold: Bulk processed by the Encased Fan into Gold Nuggets, which are then dropped into a Basin and pressed back into Gold Ingots.

  • Iron Ingots: Routed to a Mechanical Crafter that converts them back into Iron Nuggets, which go straight into the Hopper above it and back into the system. This is the only loop that closes by itself.

  • Andesite Alloy: Cut into Shafts by the Mechanical Saw, then passed to the Mixer along with Planks to be recrafted into Large Cogwheels.

  • Gold Nuggets, Cogwheels, and Golden Sheets: Byproducts already in a usable form are collected in the Chest, ready to be re-inserted.

--Inputs and Outputs:

  • Input: Gold (Ingots, Nuggets, Sheets). Follow the signs on the machine.

  • Planks: any type, fed in at the spot marked "Planks Here".

  • Output: Precision Mechanisms and all byproducts are collected in the Chest. Sweep it periodically.

--Power Requirements:

The assembler draws 10,240 SU at maximum speed (256 RPM). Make sure your kinetic network has adequate capacity before making a connection. Input power is versatile; just make sure it spins in the correct direction.

--Inside the Box:

  • 2 Mechanical Presses (Golden Sheet pressing and Gold Nugget to Ingot pressing)

  • 1 Mechanical Saw (Andesite Alloy to Shaft conversion)

  • 1 Mechanical Mixer (Shaft + Planks to Large Cogwheel crafting)

  • 1 Encased Fan (to bulk-splash Raw Gold into Nuggets)

  • 1 Mechanical Crafter (Iron Ingot to Nugget recycling)

  • 3 Deployers

  • 2 Basins

  • 1 Depot

  • 6 Hoppers, 4 Barrels, and 2 Chests

  • 4 Brass Belt Funnels, 2 Andesite Belt Funnels, and 1 Brass Funnel

  • Belts for internal transport

  • Encased Chain Drives, Gearboxes, and Encased Cogwheels/Shaft to route power across axes

--Build Notes:

  • Remember to waterlog the Funnel marked on the sign for proper functionality.

  • Due to the limited space, alignment is essential. It is recommended to place the build within a flat 4x4 area and connect the kinetic power.

  • Double-check the filters in the Deployers (Cogwheel, Large Cogwheel, Iron Nugget) and the Funnels before running the system live.

MK1 vs Zero:

  • MK1: more convenient and controllable (Mechanical Arm, Threshold Switch, Smart Chutes, Item Vaults), 10,752 SU at 256 RPM.

  • Zero (this build): cheaper, simpler input/output, 10,240 SU at 256 RPM.

  • For a fully automatic version with raw-material input only, see MK2 (5x5x4, 20,992 SU at 256 RPM).
