Welcome to the Kingfisher, a survival ready, self-sustaining exploration cruiser designed to provide you with all the storage and workshop needs as you travel the world.

=== Key Features ===

Power System

Using 2 sets of Create Diesel Generators' Bulk Fermenters, the Kingfisher is able to generate infinite lava to power its two level 9 steam engines and store excess lava for you to use.

Workshop & Storage

Within its main hull, you'll find every processor you need to craft equipment on the frontier, including 5 fan hot-swappable fan modules, a set of crushing wheels and a 5x5 automated mechanical crafter (must be used via factory gauges).

The Kingfisher boasts 4 full sized item vaults linked to a stock keeper within the workshop, capable of automatic vault consolidation and fill level monitoring via a large nixie board.

Below the workshop, the kingfisher has a powered winch system that is controlled from the pilot seat, allowing you to air lift cargo if desired.

Command Deck

Featuring a nixie board HUD, the panoramic command deck provides you with unrivaled visual clarity as you sail across the world. A dashboard behind the pilot seat also mirrors the same information on your player HUD, allowing you to monitor ship telemetry while using Contraption Cam.

Additional Expansion Space

The upper deck of the Kingfisher has been left mostly unfurnished for you to personalise it as you see fit.

=== Usage Instructions ===

Assembly

To build the Kingfisher, first print the schematic without applying any rotation or mirroring. Then verify the following:

  • Verify that the entire ship is encased in Honey Glue

  • Verify that all propellers are correctly encased in Slime Glue. There are 8 total propellers: 2 Front, 2 Side, 3 Rear, 1 in Front Balloon Section

Please apply the glues if they failed to print for you.

You may Assemble the Kingfisher once all the above steps are completed.

Post Assembly Setup

Hot Air Burners

The Kingfisher uses hot air burners for passive flight and its base tuning should allow it to float just above sea-level. At higher levels, an optical sensor located in its rear allows automatic hovering.

To fine tune the Kingfisher's passive pitch stability, you may adjust its front burners. Remember that you will need to tune the passive & throttle burners separately. A propeller is in the front balloon chamber to help stablise the Kingfisher's pitch.

Engine

To get the Kingfisher's engines ready, you must access its water reservoir underneath its lava tank by removing some blocks located in the bottom rear external side of the ship. You will know you found it when you see the pipe intakes.

Once water has been provided, you must prime the system by filling the fuel tank with lava via the fluid hatch behind the stock keeper (only a few buckets is necessary, but more is better).

Then, ensure the overhead lever is switched OFF (this controls the inverted gear box that powers the workshop and front propellers).

Once the lever is OFF, you may fuel the Portable Engine in front of the fuel tank to begin priming the system.

Assuming you have correctly filled the water reservoir, the steam engine should begin turning after receiving enough lava, and self-start. You will know it has started once the system automatically speeds up to 256 RPM.

If you did not shut off the inverted clutch, the system may over-stress on startup and break the centrifugal clutch in the upper maintenance bay. You will need to replace it, making sure that its arrow is pointed to the front of the ship, and set to 64 RPM.

With the system running, the bulk fermenters will automatically produce lava to fuel the ship. You can monitor the front fermenter in the workshop, and see the rear fermenter through the lava tank glass when fuel is low. If the fermenters are not working while the lava tank is not full, you may need to break a few fermenter blocks and replace them. This is an issue with the Mod and happens more frequently when the ship is chunk un-loaded and re-loaded.

Storage System

To set up the Kingfisher's storage system, you simply need to re-connect the chain conveyors and replace the frog ports to link them to the chains. The chain conveyor above the stock keeper is the central one, and the 3 additional conveyors aboard the ship all connect to it (1 in the workshop, 2 above the item vaults).

You can access the item vault service areas via the upper deck rear maintenance hallway. Make sure that all 4 item vault frog ports are set to send & receive, and they are all named "Ship Storage"

Behind the left hand side (port board) stairs, you can access the receiving frog port for the mechanical crafter, remember to name it for automation purposes.

Display Links

There are display links connecting the avionic in the main balloon section to the front nixie board & dashboard in the command deck, as well as connecting the item vault threshold switches to the nixie board in the workshop. If these fail to print with their correct links, you may need to break the display links and re-link them.

Decorative Ropes

There are ropes that connect the Kingfisher's hull to the balloon, these are purely decorative and you may connect them however you wish.

Controls

The Kingfisher uses standard WASD movement via the Linked Typewriter in the command deck. It also supports strafing via Q and E. The winch can be controlled via Up and Down Arrows.

To control the altitude, you can adjust the primary burner power via Left Shift and Left Control. If power is set too low, the optical sensor may override your set power level to ensure a minimum 15 block hover above the ground.

Note, the Kingfisher was initially built with aesthetics in mind. Its drag distribution does result in harsh pitches upon initial forward/backward acceleration. Its automatic attitude compensation will stablise it when flying continuously.
