I may have gone overboard with my terraining... if Tonestas ever does a second one of these I am definitely restricting myself to something more... manageable... and smaller...

This is a pair of large nbt files, so be patient, and maybe increase your render distance (at least for assembly)

This is a race track designed for Tonestas’ Race Track Challenge. Main inspirations are Mario Kart the American southwest, and some deep-lore from a server my friends and I play on. 3 laps on this course (using the car Tonestas provided) takes just over 2 minutes in total. It features meticulously graded slopes and hazards include road obstructions, a running train, and a fountain. Going off-road can be tricky but can yield faster runs (especially if you drive through the two shortcuts, the train tunnel and the station's rail yard)

Here are the assembly instructions, images are provided to aid with assembly.

===================================================

1: Align the two map halves correctly – This is easy and straightforward, the middle of the map runs near the starting line.

There are two sections of fencing that will need to be fixed, a set right at the starting-line and a set farther in the map near thee level-crossing just outside of town.

You may also need to replace the curve at the level-crossing just outside of town. (remember to hold left-shift to ensure a smooth curve)

2: Fill the water fountain – It's right in front of the train station, waterlog the thin bit made of a weathered limestone wall and you've set up the fountain.

3: Assemble the train – This is a primary obstacle for the race track so this is a must to get working!

Ensure that the train in properly super-glued, It should port over with the schematic but it never hurts to check.

If the individual cars are not glued that use temporary blocks to simply make a big glue box around them (the track will not assemble with the train so do not worry about the box covering the track.)

Assemble the train from the station block, (it is hidden beneath an andesite trapdoor at the head of the station platform.

In the train’s tender (coal car behind the engine) there is a barrel visible from the cab. Stock that barrel full of stacks of coal blocks.

Create a schedule that features both stations on the train line and have a wait of 0 seconds. The first station block (as stated above) is at the head of the train platform beneath an andesite trapdoor. The second station block is in a barrel behind the engine house (building with a smoke stack) over at the oil field. You don't need to rename the stations, technically, but it does differentiate the stations, as such in the instruction image I've only named one station.

Finally, give the schedule to the blaze burner so it can drive the train.

3: Assemble the Oil Pumpjack – (This one is only for aesthetics, feel free to skip it. I wouldn’t blame you.)

Firstly, make sure that everything is honeyglued as shown in the assembly pictures.

Next, make sure that the 4 physics assemblers are in their correct modes (the schematic should carry this over but again, it doesn’t hurt to check) and activate them with a right-click in a specific order:

  • First: the bearing powered by the cog and belt (marked 1 on the accompanying image)

  • Second: the bearing attached to the side of the flywheel (marked 2)

  • Third: the bearing holding the beam (marked 3. You will want to either use temporary blocks to prevent it from tipping or straighten out the beam with the staff and freeze it in place)

  • Fourth: the bearing at the end of the beam (marked 4.)

Next you will use the physics assembler to turn the shaft with a pair of cogs attached into a physics object.

Lift the shaft into the air with the physics staff and set it right-up near the bearings and freeze it.

Use slimeballs to connect the shaft to the physics bearings on the flywheel (marked 2) and beam (marked 4)

Remove any temporary blocks (if you used them) and unfreeze the shaft. Everything should snap back to its correct position.

Head into the engine house (the building with the smoke stack) and flick the lever on the clutch

If you have followed the instructions correctly, then the pumpjack should be working smoothly.

Finally, get some rope and right-click the rope-pulley in the borehole beneath the head of the pumpjack. Connect the rope to the connected on the head of the pumpjack when it is at its highest point, otherwise you will need to let out rope from the pulley.

===================================================

With that, all things should be assembled correctly.

For best results use a desert biome and set time of day to either 23700 or 12400 depending on your preferences

I recommend disabling mob spawning or you are going to have a lot of bats as the terrain in hollow

Lastly, I'd like to thank all my friends who provided feedback throughout the construction process. This is my first time doing custom terraining and their words of encouragement and criticism were instrumental. I'd also like to thank Tonestas as this challenge made me want to stretch design skills and put a piece of my work out there for people outside of my friend group to see and play.
