Fully Automatic Assembler for Precision Mechanisms (MK2)

--Highlights:

  • Fully automatic: raw materials in (Gold, Iron Ingots, Andesite Alloy, Planks), Precision Mechanisms out. No more hand-stocking Cogwheels, Large Cogwheels, or Iron Nuggets.

  • Compact: the whole machine fits in a 5x5x4 box.

  • Built-in recycler: recyclable byproducts from failed assemblies are returned to the assembly line.

  • Doubled main loop: two assembly lines running in parallel.

  • Independent inputs: separate Barrels and a Chute on top, with Frogport support for automated supply.

  • Easy control: a Lever toggles the Gearshift, and a Redstone Lamp shows whether gold is still inside.

  • Direct belt output: finished Precision Mechanisms go straight out the main loop.

MK2 is the fully automatic successor to the semi-automatic MK1.

--Overview:

The sequenced assembly of precision mechanisms is only successful about 80% of the time. As a result, most auto-assembly lines produce a continuous stream of half-finished byproducts that end up in a junk chest. This build captures recyclable byproducts and returns them directly to the assembly line. Unlike MK1, the machine crafts its own Cogwheels, Large Cogwheels, and Iron Nuggets from raw inputs.

--Main Process:

The main loop is the same as MK1, but doubled (two assembly lines running in parallel).

  • A Gold Ingot is input into the system.

  • It is pressed into a Golden Sheet by a Mechanical Press.

  • The item continues through the rest of the sequenced assembly, where deployers stocked with Cogwheels, Large Cogwheels, and Iron Nuggets handle the remaining steps.

  • The finished product emerges as a Precision Mechanism and is output straight onto a belt.

--Raw Material Processing (new in MK2):

  • Andesite Alloy is cut into Shafts by the 3 Mechanical Saws.

  • Cogwheels: 2 Deployers apply Planks to Shafts to craft small Cogwheels.

  • Large Cogwheels: 3 Mechanical Mixers craft them from Shafts and Planks.

  • Iron Ingots are converted into Iron Nuggets by the Mechanical Crafter.

--Byproduct Recycling Loops:

  • Raw Gold: Bulk processed by the Encased Fan into Gold Nuggets, which are then dropped into a basin and pressed back into Gold Ingots, rejoining the main line from the start.

  • Iron Ingots: Filtered off and routed to a Mechanical Crafter that converts them back into Iron Nuggets, which are fed directly back into the system.

  • Andesite Alloy: Sent to the Mechanical Saw, where it is cut into Shafts. These are then passed to the Mixers along with Planks to be recrafted into Large Cogwheels.

  • Gold Nuggets, Cogwheels, and Golden Sheets: Any byproducts that already exist in a usable form are funnelled straight back into the loop without additional processing.

*Unlike MK1, items that cannot be recycled are not collected in a chest. They are thrown off the belt together with the output stream, so keep that in mind when choosing where the belt ends.

--Inputs:

Each material has its own independent input: a set of Barrels plus one Chute(Iron Ingot input) on top of the machine. Accepted items: Andesite Alloy, Iron Ingots, Planks (any type), and Gold (Ingots, Nuggets, Sheets; Incomplete Precision Mechanisms work too). Follow the labels on the signs.

Frogport supported: A Frogport can be used to deliver materials into the Barrels and the Chute.

--Power Requirements:

The assembler draws 20,992 SU at maximum speed (256 RPM), roughly double MK1. It's important to ensure your kinetic network has adequate capacity before making a connection. Input power is versatile; just make sure it spins in the correct direction.

--Controls:

  • Lever: toggles the Gearshift, switching the Encased Fan's blow direction.

  • Redstone Lamp: lit while the machine still has gold (Ingots, Sheets, or Incomplete Precision Mechanisms) inside.

--Inside the Box:

  • 3 Mechanical Arms (Required for maximum performance)

  • 2 Mechanical Presses (Golden Sheet pressing and Gold Nugget to Ingot pressing)

  • 3 Mechanical Saws (Andesite Alloy to Shaft conversion)

  • 3 Mechanical Mixers (Large Cogwheel crafting)

  • 1 Encased Fan (to bulk-splash Raw Gold into Nuggets)

  • 1 Mechanical Crafter (Iron Ingot to Nugget)

  • 8 Deployers (6 for the assembly steps with Cogwheels, Large Cogwheels, and Iron Nuggets; 2 for small Cogwheel crafting with Planks)

  • 5 Basins

  • 2 Depots

  • 3 Smart Chutes and 5 Chutes

  • 1 Threshold Switch

  • 2 Item Vaults and 3 Barrels (inputs and buffer storage)

  • Brass and Andesite Belt Funnels, Brass Funnels, and a Brass Tunnel for sorting and filtering

  • Belts for internal transport and output

  • Encased Chain Drives, Gearboxes, and a Gearshift to route power across axes without compromising the compact design

  • 1 Lever and 1 Redstone Lamp

--Build Notes:

  • Remember to waterlog the brass funnel located under the Encased Fan for proper functionality.

  • Due to the limited space, alignment is essential. It is recommended to place the build within a flat 5x5 area and connect the kinetic power.

  • If the Encased Fan is sucking instead of blowing, flip the Gearshift.

  • Double-check the filters in the Deployers and Brass Funnels before running the system live.

Updates:

11/10/2026 (First release):

  • Initial release of MK2.

New version name: compact_precision_assembler_mk2r.nbt (r stands for release).

Benchmark:
-- Output: ~101,96 Precision Mechanisms per minute (Needs more testing)

[TO BE UPDATED: throughput]

Version Information:

This is MK2, the fully automatic version with raw-material input only. MK1 (semi-automatic, 4x4x4) is still available for builds where space matters more than hands-off operation.

Developer's Note:

MK2 took a lot longer than I planned. Most of my time went into developing plugins and mods, so this build only got attention in the gaps between them. Even though I know exactly what every single block in this machine does, watching it run still feels a bit like magic: raw materials go in, and Precision Mechanisms come out of a box this small. I hope it saves you as much time as it cost me to build. Feedback and stress-test reports are always welcome.
